Students at Caralee Community School study Italian for our Language other than English (LOTE) program. Students from year three to seven attend a thirty to fifty minute session of general Italian learning.
Students participate in speaking the Italian language to their peers and teacher. They practise the correct technique of pronouncing Italian words and sentences. Children learn general greetings, colours, family and numbers in Italian. They also participate in the history of Italy, which includes food, transportation, population and community.
Students at Caralee have the opportunity to learn about Italian cuisines and are able to participate in cooking classes with the teacher. Students have cooked a wide variety of food including pizza, Italian donuts, pasta and Italy’s famous desserts such as Tiramisu.
