Building on Strength in Uncertain Times: In this Together

These messages are relevant to all school communities and highlight the 2020 National Reconciliation Week theme which resonates at this time as it reminds us - whether in a crisis or in reconciliation - we are all "in this together".

RECONCILIATION is about a way to come together as one people.

This is a time to look at history in Australia of the indigenous peoples, and acknowledge what was done to them and the wrongs that were made.

It is also a time to make positive changes so that the indigenous children can see that we are acknowleging the history and are also moving forward on this to make it better for them and all in Australia.

Caralee Community School, together with the Fremantle Language Development Centre, acknowledge both Sorry Day (26 May) and Reconciliation Week (27 May to 03 Jun).

Resources and activity packs for small children will be available from our Administration Office.

We also encourage you to view the video link below.

Titled Building On Strength in Uncertain Times: In this together, the video provides relatable and culturally responsive information for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, parents and community members about these challenging times from both a system-level and Aboriginal perspective.

The video is narrated by the Department’s Elders in Residence and senior Aboriginal staff.  You can view the video HERE.

 National Reconciliation Week 2020: 27 May – 3 June

The theme for #NRW2020 – In this together – is now resonating in ways we could not have foreseen when we announced it last year, but it reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all #InThisTogether.
